Westerville Creamery & the Johnston-McVay Family (Webinar)

Discover the history of the Westerville Creamery, opened by R.R. Johnston and son W.B. Johnston in 1900. The business became the largest family-owned producer of canned evaporated milk in the country by the late 1940s. Explore the business and the innovative, community-minded Johnston family.
Special focus will be given to W.B.'s daughter Dorothy Johnston McVay and her husband Maurice "Mac" whose legacy continues on in the fund they bequeathed the community, the elementary on acreage they donated and the park that bears their name on the land they loved.

Note: Hosted by the Westerville Historical Society. Though this virtual presentation is a part of the Westerville Historical Society's monthly meeting and will include organization updates from the President, all are welcome to attend.
About the Presenter
Kathy Cocuzzi, Mayor of Westerville, has been a resident since 1982 and a City Council member since 2005. Mayor Cocuzzi represents City Council to the Ohio Municipal Electric Association and the Central Ohio Mayors and Managers Association.

She serves as a member of Westerville Honor Flight Committee and the Westerville Parks Foundation. Previously served on the Westerville Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, Planning Commission and Charter Review Commission, as well as Westerville Safety City Director for seven years. Mayor Cocuzzi is a founding member of the Neighbor2Neighbor kindness movement.
