Westerville, OH – Top priority remains the community’s health and safety as the Westerville Public Library plans for a responsible restart to operations. Recommendations from government officials, local authorities, and health departments related to COVID-19 will continue to guide decisions over the coming weeks and months.
Drive-thru service for reserved items and the ability to return borrowed items will likely be included in the first phase for reopening. Details to be announced.
Library administration is eagerly awaiting the results of a COVID-19 research partnership between the Institute of Museum and Library Services, OCLC, Inc. and Battelle to help guide best practices for handling collections.
Digital resources remain available 24/7.
“Even though we’re apart right now, you can stay close by joining us for a virtual storytime, downloading an ebook, listening to a podcast, or starting up a conversation via our new chat services,” says Erin Francoeur, Executive Director.
On April 28, the Westerville Library Board of Trustees approved a 20% budget reduction on non-personnel expenditures for the remainder of the year to account for the loss of revenues through state and local tax incomes.
The COVID-19 situation is rapidly changing. As new information is made available, the Westerville Public Library will continue to enhance plans and communicate changes via westervillelibrary.org/coronavirus.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we face this health emergency together.
